There is a lot of research going on at StoryGate at the moment! We were asked by Offaly Libraries to create a video for Heritage Week in August. It will be a video with stories originating from County Offaly. For this we are diving deep into the School’s Collection, a marvelous resource, to find stories that were collected in the 1930s by school children from different counties all over Ireland, including Offaly. For a year these children didn’t need to do any homework, but instead collected the tales, old cures and crafts that their grandparents and neighbours knew. It is now one of the biggest folklore collections and a true treasure trove for every storyteller. Once we found the right stories for us we’re going to start filming and the video will go live in August.
