Migrant Tales of Ireland – IOM UN Migration Project

No one is a stranger, if you know their story.

In November and December 2024, Simone had the great pleasure of working with IOM Ireland, the UN Migration Agency, on a unique storytelling project. Nine Migrants from different cultures, backgrounds and age groups were asked to tell their story on camera, to share something close to their heart. The result are nine powerful short videos that will make you love and cry, but most of all, it will show you the people behind the label “Migrant”.

Being a migrant herself, this was a project close to Simone’s heart. She didn’t tell herself, but provided guidance for the new tellers, helping them to find and shape their stories both before and during the recording.

Migrant Tales of Ireland was launched in the EPIC Museum on the 16th of December 2024 with a speech from Ugochi Daniels, IOM Deputy Director General for Operations, and Simone, representing both Storytellers of Ireland and StoryGate as supporters of the project. For one week, the videos and portraits of the tellers were on exhibition in the EPIC Museum and are now available to watch online on the IOM website.
